About Suzy
Born in a rural Mississippi town with a population of 1,150 to a non-musical family, Suzy always felt like a misfit. Finally, over 50 years later, she’s found her home amongst the outcasts and rebels of metal, writing and releasing her original E.P.s “The Best Revenge” and the self-titled “Suzy,” as well as sharing the stage with rock heroes such as Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Paul Stanley (KISS) and Nancy Wilson (Heart). Her own unique blend of metal and rock has been described as “Joni Mitchell meets Metallica.” Her band, Suzy and the Substitutes are an active rock force known for combining heavy, infectious hooks with deeply transparent songwriting. In 2024, Suzy took a brief pause in her music career after the devastating loss of her husband to suicide. Tapping into her resilient spirit, Suzy took to songwriting again, and the song “Rising Out of the Ashes,” has become an anthem for anyone facing a similar situation. With the help of her music team, Suzy and The Substitutes are now experiencing chart momentum on the Secondary Market Rock Chart with “21st Century,” and “Rising Out of The Ashes,” which topped out on the charts at #15. Most recently, the release of “Rising Out of The Ashes.” The band continues to tackle real-world struggles with unfiltered energy and hope, and plans to release more new music, including another single called “Your Drama.”
“Rock and roll is about pushing boundaries and breaking rules. I don’t fit what most people think a metal singer looks like and that’s ok. You don’t have to conform to what others think to follow your dream.”
